Read the passage.
Harry Agoff was an immigrant from the country of Russia. He arrived in Alaska in 1917. When he first arrived, Agoff earned money by competing in boxing matches. He worked as a gold prospector, searching for gold in the area. He also worked as a miner and a mail carrier. His transportation for delivering the mail was a dog team and sled.
Agoff established his own gold mining company in the 1920s. He married and had three children. They lived in a one-room cabin in the small rural town of Flat, Alaska. They hunted, fished, and grew their own food to survive. After Agoff died, his children ran the mine and successfully continued their father’s work.
