Read the passage.
One bright, fall day in September, Tally the turtle visited Beanie the bird. Tally said hello, then pointed at Beanie’s nest.
“Look at your sad little home!” Tally said. “It’s made of sticks, leaves, and dirt. Look at my pretty shell. It’s a much better home than your ugly nest.”
Beanie replied, “It’s true my nest is small, and it’s made of sticks, leaves, and dirt. But I like it.”
“Wouldn’t you rather live in my shell?” Tally teased.
Beanie said, “No, I like my nest just fine. My family can sit in it with me. Your shell may look nicer, but it only has room for you. I have the better home.”
Which detail from the story supports the lesson that it’s better to have a crowded hut than a lonely mansion?
