Problem

Two solenoids of different radii are shown below.
Solenoid 1 (in red here) has an area of cross-section A1=0.010 m2 and N1=200 turns. Solenoid 2 (in grey here) has an area of cross-section A2=0.10 m2 and N2=50 turns.
A current runs in the solenoid 1 producing a uniform field of 4.0 T within it.
Find the magnitude of the magnetic flux linked with solenoid 2.

  • Your answer should be
  • an integer, like 6
  • a simplified proper fraction, like 3/5
  • a simplified improper fraction, like 7/4
  • a mixed number, like 1 3/4
  • an exact decimal, like 0.75
  • a multiple of pi, like 12 pi or 2/3 pi
