Animators often use the natural world as inspiration for their work. Before doing anything they first become intimately familiar with look and behavior of the real-world objects they want to represent. To begin, let's go out and find a blade of grass as it will be useful to have one handy during the rest of this tutorial.

Our goal is to represent a blade of grass digitally using a model. Once we have a model of a single blade we will have the ability to duplicate it and animate entire fields of grass!

While doing so, think about the shape of the grass. What is the simplest possible description of it? What makes it look real vs. artificial?
