this is an example of an exercise where we would like a student to graph something and so in this case the question is to graph this this equation and to do that we have various widgets that we can insert into the question and so in this case we want to insert a an interactive graph widget and so when I when I click this add widget and select interactive graph it adds this little this little special tag here inside my question that says interactive graph and that that signifies that there's going to be an interactive graph and if you look over on the preview here you see there's a graph that appears where this where this little tag is I also get over here a graph that has the question writer I can use to specify the the correct answer so in this case I can I can graph this and and so this this I've graphed the correct answer and and this means that now the user will have to we'll have to graph that same thing and now it's okay for them to graph it differently then I've graphed it so the two in other words the two points don't have to be in the exact same spot that I've put them here they can they can be anywhere as long as the the line is correct because we're just asked them to graph that line the other thing that's a little bit weird about this and actually let me is that over here you'll notice that there's still an answer box that has a text box over here and so we don't want the student to have to enter anything over there so for answer type we can change that to custom format and that removes any any answer widgets over here and allows us to just type whatever we want in here and so in this case I just want to type something over in the answer box to tell the student that they should that their answer is really just the graph so I want to say you know drag the points to graph the equation and so that that'll just direct the students in then they look in the answer box they'll see this little note and that'll tell them how how to graph this and so we should always make sure that something goes in the answer box telling the student that actually their answer is is over here otherwise you know sort of a convention on Khan Academy that your answer is always contained in the answer box unless there's some text in the answer box that says oh no your grant your answer is actually this graph and of course we can't fit the graph in the answer box so we just put it here in the problem area and so this will will just allow the student to graph that we have a couple options we can change this to a quadratic function in which case you know you specify the correct answer by by graphing three points and the student would have to do the same thing to answer it you can graph a circle which you know again you specify the correct answer by dragging the circle around and setting its radius and the student would have to do the same thing you can graph a point which case you just set the point if you'd like to graph multiple points you can select how many points and you'll have that many points and the student will will have to graph the points that you specify here and or you can graph a linear system which is just a system of two equations and the student would have to graph that so those are the options there and whatever graph you specify over here is what the student would have to to do in order to get the question right and again the important point here is just to make sure that whenever you put a widget into the question area you make sure you put something over in the answer area that directs the student to use the widget and the answer in order to answer the question otherwise the answer a would just be blank and it would look sort of weird you know in our user interface and to do that again select this custom format and just put in a little note here explaining how to answer the question
