Alkanes, Alkenes, and Alkynes- General molecular formula
Let's look at the members of the Alkane, Alkene, and Alkyne family and see what is their general molecular formula.

- Are these alkanes, alkenes, alkynes somehow similar to alkalines?(3 votes)
- Nope. Alkalines are water-soluble bases. These are just hydrocarbons.(3 votes)
- 10:0012:13Why do we need to make only branched structures for alkenes and alkynes?(1 vote)
- Because we are studying chain structures. The cyclic hydrocarbons are named as cycloalkanes, cycloalkenes, and cycloalkynes.
Hope it helps:)(1 vote)
