Also how would you know whether a college is public or private, and how selective these may be? In particular, I am wondering about Columbia College Chicago, and Penn State.(3 votes)- Obviously your expected family contribution will depend on your financial circumstances and the college, but an EFC could theoretically be as small as $0.
A quick internet search can tell you if a college is public or private, and how selective it is. Columbia College Chicago is private, and Penn State is public. You can see how selective a school is by looking up its acceptance rate. Columbia College Chicago accepts around 87.1% of applicants, and Penn State main campus accepts around 75.9%.
