Our oceans cover 71% of the planet. For centuries, humanity has been entranced by the mysteries and life that abound within the seas. But human actions, like using plastic and producing greenhouse gasses, are endangering these amazing bodies of water. This unit explores the mysteries that lurk beneath the surface of the sea, the amazing and varied life forms that inhabit ocean waters, and the impact of human actions on these unique ecosystems.

- What are some ways that changes to the ocean might impact life on land?
In this unit, you will:
- Learn about the oceans’ history, mysteries, and life
- See the impact humans are having on the oceans
- Find out what you can do to help marine ecosystems that are in danger

- Reading and answering questions about literary, informational, and argumentative texts
- Learning new academic words
In order to answer the essential questions: What is the significance of the oceans for life on Earth? What impact do human actions have on the oceans, and how can we support a healthy and thriving ocean environment?
