Course: Computer programming - JavaScript and the web > Unit 6
Lesson 1: Get ready to make your webpages interactiveReview JavaScript
You should review each of these core concepts, which you can do here on Khan Academy in our Intro to JS course:
- Variables: how to declare variables, assign, re-assign, and local vs. global scope.
- Data types: numbers, booleans, strings, arrays, and objects.
- Functions: how to group code into functions, pass arguments to them, and return values from them.
- Conditionals: how to use if/else statements and logical expressions.
- Loops: how to use while and for loops to repeat code.
You can check how well you remember everything in the quiz up next.

- why is the course called "Intro to JS" when you learn Processing.JS not JavaScript, two similar but very different programming languages?(30 votes)
- They are not different languages - processing.js is a javascript library. That means it is a set of javascript functions which, in this case, allow you to easily draw to the canvas with javascript. When you use processing.js you are using javascript.(152 votes)
- So do I need to do the intro to javascript first or do you teach what we need to know here on this course(11 votes)
- The things you learn in Intro to JS are definitely very useful. That's where you learn the basics of the JavaScript language.
Here you learn to apply that to web pages.
I'm not sure how essential Intro to JS is, but it's recommended nonetheless.(16 votes)
- what are the diferent meta charsets?(9 votes)
- how do you know what signs to use when u code(5 votes)
- Look at the documentation tab below a project, challenge, or your own program(8 votes)
- How do I use Inspect Element to test a change in JS? e.g. I have this line of code:
var regionalLinkt='true';
which makes a link visible on the page, but I want to test the page with this set to 'false'. I was able to edit it to 'false' in inspect element, but not seeing the page changes?(3 votes)- JavaScript won't re-execute after a variable is changed; any execution involving that variable would already have taken place.
I'd need to know how the page is implemented before I can give a better answer.(5 votes)

- You need to do intro to java(1 vote)
- Why are these questions hard because I answered all correctly but they said wrong? Please tell :((3 votes)
- They aren't hard. I also got a couple wrong but if you think they are correct then, you might want to check again.(5 votes)
- why java script is important in webpage(2 votes)
- It is used to make webpages interactive. Imagine a webpage where you can't do anything! That's where JavaScript comes in.(2 votes)
- Is JavaScript compatible with Python?(2 votes)
- No, python and javascript are two diffrent programming languages, and therefore are not compatible with each other. However, a knowlage of one helps with learning the other.

- Can you accidentally get a virus from JavaScript?(1 vote)
- My friend did, tho, messed w/ his laptop so that it could only show an image of a cat dancing on a Roomba, I had to route the base code into another laptop and manually track down the virus to get rid of it.
Then again, I sent him the virus (XD), crossed it with a bit of html css and Python so it could root itself deep into the code, took me at least an hour to get it out.
Worth my time and trouble, tho!(3 votes)
