Insertional inactivation using Lac Z gene (Blue white screening)
In this video, let's explore how we can use an enzyme-producing selectable marker to select for the right cells. We will take the example of the Lac Z gene, which naturally digests Beta-galactosidase, and see how using X-gal, we can screen for the recombinants. This method takes fewer steps than using multiple antibiotic markers, and is quicker, and therefore more suited. Created by Khadijatul Qubra.
