Problem

A photoelectric effect experiment is performed on a certain metal using light sources of different frequencies. The stopping potential V0 is measured for each source and plotted against the frequency ν as shown below
Find the work function of the metal. Note: Take h=6.6×1034 J s and e=1.6×1019 C and round-off your answer to two significant figures.
  • Your answer should be
  • an integer, like 6
  • a simplified proper fraction, like 3/5
  • a simplified improper fraction, like 7/4
  • a mixed number, like 1 3/4
  • an exact decimal, like 0.75
  • a multiple of pi, like 12 pi or 2/3 pi
