The figure below shows a large rectangle with a small rectangle cut out of it.
An 8-sided figure in the shape of a large rectangle with a small rectangle cut out from its top side. The large rectangle is 8 units long and 8 units wide. The space left from the small rectangle is 3 units long and 2 units wide.
Find the area of the shaded figure by subtracting the areas.
