- Why were decimals created?(9 votes)
- Hi addie! Decimals were created to show that there is a total less than 1. For example, let's say that you had a cookie. Then, maybe your friend eats 0.3 or 3/10 of that cookie. That's basically why decimals were created. Also, they are essential when you do percentages later. If you had 75% of 1 cookie, it's the same as saying you had 0.75 of a cookie. Hope this helps. Have an amazing day! 😁(15 votes)
