Lesson 1: Lines, line segments, and rays

# Lines, line segments, and rays review

Review the basics of lines, line segments, and rays.  Identify and draw lines, line segments, and rays in practice problems.

## What are $\redC{\text{lines}}$start color #f9685d, start text, l, i, n, e, s, end text, end color #f9685d and $\purpleD{\text{line segments}}$start color #7854ab, start text, l, i, n, e, space, s, e, g, m, e, n, t, s, end text, end color #7854ab and $\blueD{\text{rays}}$start color #11accd, start text, r, a, y, s, end text, end color #11accd?

A start color #f9685d, start text, l, i, n, e, end text, end color #f9685d extends forever in both directions, like this:
A line with arrows on each end pointing outward in opposite directions.
A start color #7854ab, start text, l, i, n, e, space, s, e, g, m, e, n, t, end text, end color #7854ab is just part of a line. It has two endpoints, like this:
A line with dots on each end.
A start color #11accd, start text, r, a, y, end text, end color #11accd starts at one point and continues on forever in one direction, like this:
A dot with an arrow extending from it.

## Practice set 1: Identify lines, line segments, and rays

Problem 1A
• Current
Which of the following figures show a dashed start color #1fab54, start text, r, a, y, end text, end color #1fab54?
Consider the entire dashed structure in each figure.

## Practice set 2: Draw lines, line segments, and rays

Problem 2A
• Current
Drag the lines so one line goes through points start text, A, end text and start text, D, end text, and the other line goes through points start text, B, end text and start text, C, end text.
These are lines because they each have
and continue forever in
.

• this stuff is very easy i think
a ray is a line that has one endpoint and on one side it goes on forever
a line goes on forever in both directions
a line segment has two endpoints
• I agree I love math
• Why is it two endpoints?
• Because two endpoints for a line segment means it cannot continue in either direction. Hope this helps!
• A ray is a line that never stops from one side
• l don't it🥹🥹🥹🥹🙇🙇🙇🙍🙍🙎🙎🙎
• How do i do the work sheet with the lines you have to drag? Its not working for me.
• you can draw the line segments in pencil.
• How do the lines get there names?
• it is in lesson 2
• doesn't make sense to me
• So hopefully this will explain to you-a line is a line that goes on forever in both directions. A line segment is something that has a start and an end (2 endpoints)-so basically the opposite of a line. Then a ray is something with a starting point, but no end. So a ray is like a line, but only one part is endless. You good 👍 ?
• it keeps saying I'm not doing it when I'm doing it is some type of glitch
• If you hit the refresh button it should work
• If someone got it wrong and they want to try to whole thing over again, shouldn't you change the questions so they don't memorize it?
• If you do try to take the tests and quizzes again, you will find different questions. However, there are only so many questions in the pool to draw from, so on occasion you will find a repeat.
• some times I feel like this app is glitched (still do) but its very helpful
