- think about like this: if you want to divide shift the decimal point to the left based on the numbers of zeros. for example if you want to divide 4.25 ÷ 10 you will shift the decimal point one time to the left (because there is one zero in the ten). if you want to divide 4.35 ÷ 100 you will shift the decimal point two times to the left because there is two zeros in the 100.(8 votes)

- It’s confusing because they’re referring to digits moving rather than the dot/point, so everything is reversed.(5 votes)
