8th grade (U.S.)

8th grade is all about tackling the meat of algebra and getting exposure to some of the foundational concepts in geometry. If you get this stuff (and you should because you're incredibly persistent), the rest of your life will be easy. Okay, maybe not your whole life, but at least your mathematical life. Seriously, if you really get the equations and functions stuff we cover here, most of high school will feel intuitive, even relaxing. (Content was selected for this grade level based on a typical curriculum in the United States.)
Community Questions

Numbers and operations

Math is all about numbers (like 89 and 3.14) and operations (like addition and multiplication). In these tutorials, we learn about a some new types of numbers and some new types of operations.

Solving equations with one unknown

Learn how to solve more complicated, multi-step equations like 4x + 5 = 6x -7.

Linear equations and functions

Linear equations like y = 2x + 7 are called "linear" because they make a straight line when we graph them. These tutorials introduce you to linear relationships, their graphs, and functions.

Systems of equations

A "system of equations" is when we're dealing with more than one equation at the same time. These tutorials show you how to set up and solve systems of equations.
