# Points on the coordinate plane

CCSS Math: 6.NS.C.6c
Plot points on the coordinate plane in all four quadrants.
In this article, we're going to plot points in the coordinate plane. We'll start in the first quadrant.

### Example: Plotting the point $(\blueD7, \goldD4)$

Let's start by going to $\blueD7$ on the $x$-axis:
Now we go up $\goldD4$, and plot the point $(\blueD7, \goldD4)$:

### Practice

Problem 1
Plot the point $(2, 8)$.

### Example: Plotting the point $(\blueD{-5}, \goldD{-9})$

Let's start by going to $\blueD{-5}$ on the $x$-axis:
Now we go down $\goldD9$, and plot the point $(\blueD{-5}, \goldD{-9})$:

### Practice

Problem 2A
Plot the point $(3, -4)$.
