About 'Storytelling with Adobe and Khan Academy’s Pixar in a Box'
Storytelling with Adobe and Khan Academy’s Pixar in a Box
The 14-lesson storytelling activity series combines the creative power of Adobe and Pixar with Khan Academy’s content library to support students of all ages as they learn storytelling fundamentals and simple creative tools to bring their ideas to life.
Overview of curriculum
The activities are adaptable and flexible, so you can use them for any grade level or subject area. Most of the activities use Adobe’s free, easy-to-use tools like Adobe Creative Cloud Express (formerly Adobe Spark), but you can use any creative tools you have at your disposal.
You can learn more about Adobe Creative Cloud Express (formerly Adobe Spark), Creative Cloud login, account creation, and other technical details by clicking here.
Activities
Each lesson or activity follows a similar format:
- Students see the key learning objectives and big questions right away.
- Students then watch a video or read an article on Khan Academy.
- Students deepen their understanding with a creative activity while learning new digital skills.
Educators can choose from two activity tracks: a shorter track and an extended track. The nine Creative Cloud Express-based activities (highlighted in blue) are key creative moments where students imagine, design, and create all the components they need to make their own short film.
The five extended activities (highlighted in yellow) dive deeper into storytelling and give the option to use either Creative Cloud Express or more advanced design and creation tools from Adobe Creative Cloud.
Example activity
In this lesson, students watch a Khan Academy and Pixar in a Box video to learn about how Pixar animators come up with character ideas. Then, in the Adobe and Khan Academy activity, students develop characters either from their imaginations or by drawing on their knowledge of real or historical people, and they consider how the characters’ worlds or environments influence their motivations or actions.
