Exercise 3: Layout
Start the process of designing a map of your land
Exercise 3: Layout
Below is an example of a map of Pirate’s Lair. It contains the key attractions, walkways and important structures. Notice how the theme of the land (adventure, discovery and danger) is reflected in the layout and design (treasure map style with winding paths, unknown areas and hints of danger)
Activity: Start a rough draft of a map for your own land. Don’t worry if you don’t have the whole land planned out yet. You can leave a lot of blanks for future ideas. Focus more on the style of your map, what it looks and feels like.

- I will most likely create Hogwarts. The castle you will be able to take off and reveal the inside of Hogwarts. I would really like to emphasize the great hall. I was also thinking for the stairs could actually move. I am a little stumped. If anyone has any ideas please say them.(23 votes)
- Well i would possibly make it to were the stairs are light weight but very strong , and then i would use a very strong peace of equipment with directions and a timer for about every 10-20 minutes till they shift. And i would LOVE to go to your theme park because Harry Potter is my favorite book and movie series, i can read 1-2 book per day when it is Harry Potter.(15 votes)
- Since my land is based on the galaxy, the layout of my map would be space themed. I imagine stars and planets everywhere.(11 votes)
- My land is mostly just a castle and has villages and castles here and there.(7 votes)
- Will there be a dragon that flies over every now and again?(5 votes)
- For my area, it is based off of cartoon characters and the history of animation, including an attraction based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.(9 votes)
- I don't want to do this alone so im gonna do it with my cousin. its ok if you need help always ask if you get stuck(7 votes)
- The layout for Explorer's Cove is situated to the west of a large body of water, which is supposed to stimulate the feel of the town expanding into the unknown. Explorer's Cove is full of big and diverse buildings - though they make the visitors feel small at first, they all have their own unique designs. Of course, the land will also have winding paths and 'hidden' areas as well.(6 votes)
- I think the idea is pretty complex and smart.I would go for dragons in the hidden areas and neon plants(0 votes)
- im making a land were it looks like willy wonkas choalate factorie(5 votes)
- Im going to create a place that looks like its from the book, a wolf called wander(4 votes)
- What does this do for us in life?(4 votes)
- It teaches you about storytelling. Imagineering is advanced storytelling that uses a lot of applied sciences.(1 vote)
- I would create San Fransocio from Big Hero 6. It would have their culture, food, and living style in the. I would really love to explore their world and culture because their technology is so advanced yet the buildings are close to ours.(3 votes)
