"There are currently 141 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving 50,000 students. More than 86 percent of our students are from low-income families and eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meals program, and 95 percent are African American or Latino...As of February, 2014 44 percent of KIPP students have earned a four-year college degree after finishing eighth grade at a KIPP middle school 10 or more years ago. This is above the national average for all students (33 percent), and four times the rate for students from low-income families nationwide (10 percent)."  Source: KIPP Website, 2014
