Activity 3: Obstacles
Identifying obstacles
Part A: Return to your three favorite films. Identify one obstacle the main character you selected faces in each.
Part B: Identify an obstacle that you've faced in your life. What was it preventing you from getting?
Part C: Return to the character that you are developing. Brainstorm a few possible obstacles they might face.

From "Ralph breaks the internet", I think the biggest obstacle was that Ralph almost lost his best friend forever!At least he thought he had.And that he had spread a virus in the internet, to ruin his friends fav game from then.But, he did that to get his friend back.He wanted her to himself.He wanted to play with his friend.He didn't want her to leave him, to go of to a totally different game!We all can understand how he feels.Sometimes we had even experienced that.So we sometimes make mistakes that could affect our lives, but that could make you unique!Or somewhat.So how Ralph had fixed that, is he understood that his best friend wanted to do something on her own.So people could be different.They're all very unique.I think that's the very main lesson of the movie.Almost every movie has a lesson.
( IDK why I wrote that.But at least it made sense... Who agrees with me? Pls upvote me if you do... )

If the need is to integrate and learn to be part of a pack, can the obstacle be the bloody or harsh side of the pack's laws and actions?(49 votes)- Yeah, totally. Especially if your character values honor, loyalty, and fairness.(38 votes)
Part A:
Lion King, A relative killing Simba's father and trying to kill him as well.
Beauty and The Beast: The villagers trying to kill the beast (prince).
Elsa: Villagers trying to kill her.
Part B:
An unjust teacher excluding me from a lesson, telling me to leave the classroom for no reason (Obviously because of my "looks"). Preventing me from passing the course of getting graded on that part of the course.
Part C
My character will face the obstacle of having the antagonist spreading rumours of him being unoriginal stealing other peoples work (which is stolen from him in the first place and someone else paid by antagonist to claim it as theirs), doing criminal activities which he has not. Then having the jury (bribed by this antagonist) grading it unjust with lowest rank/grade possible.(28 votes)
Part 3:
My character has the obstacle of acceptance both internal and external. He lives in a world where inanimate objects do what they are meant to do, but he wants to be so much more than a scarecrow. He is told by everything, human and living inanimate objects that he should go back to what he is supposed to do, and that makes him start to doubt himself. This makes him realize what he needs(21 votes)
That is a really cool storyline if I ever see that movie published(no pressure!) I would definitely watch it.(8 votes)

The Hunger Games: Katniss wants to keep her sister safe, but has to win the biggest competition to do it
Keeper of the Lost Cities: Keefe wants to be with Sophie, but has to give up so much to save her and her friends(6 votes)

Can your character's obstacle be them-self? Like in The Croods with Grug? Didn't he have to give up his personal values (himself)?(5 votes)- Definitely. That happens a lot in books.(1 vote)
Elsa: People finding out about her powers and Hans trying to capture her
Aang: Dealing with the loss and changes of the world, and trying to evade fire nation soldiers
Newt: Being wrongly accused of attacking the city
One of my obstacles is definitely a toxic friend I had in the past, because with her around, I couldn't talk to anyone else or get much done.(5 votes)
