Congratulations on completing our hour of drawing with drag-and-drop code! You’ve now learned how to drag and drop blocks of JavaScript code in order to make your own custom drawings:

But it’s actually pretty similar - it just requires a whole lot more typing and paying careful attention to the “syntax”, the way that we punctuate the code. For example, every function that we call must have two parentheses, and those parentheses *must* be the right kind - ( ), not [ ] or { }. The syntax matters, otherwise the computer can’t understand exactly what our code means.

When you dragged the blocks, we made sure to always generate the right syntax behind the scenes, so that you didn’t have to worry about it.

If you want to try coding by typing, you can start our Intro to JS course. That works best on computers with physical keyboards, since it does involve a whole lot of typing, and that’s not fun to do on iPads and tablets.

If you just want to keep coding with blocks here, you can make a new program - there are so many fun things you can draw! If you want to try other ways of coding with blocks, check out Code.org and SCRATCH.

There are lots of ways to get into coding, so its important to try different options and see which one you like. And then code on!
