- For the average person, how do we get a business started. If you have a good idea but have no experience in the field connected to your idea, how do you get started? Usually people who start companies don't have a lot of starting money to hire advisors, logisticians, and technical workers right?(9 votes)
- If you have an invention, start talking about it! The only way to know if your invention or your idea is going to be valued, is to talk about it to others and measure their response. Then look for opportunities to present your idea, like the Best Shot Sales Pitch competitions that are organized by the Michigan Innovation Center in Midland. Find groups like SPARK in Ann Arbor that offer free classes on starting up a business. Join groups like LA2M in Ann Arbor, another non-profit that offers weekly speakers and great networking. There are lots of people out there looking for the same thing you are, go find them and talk with them! Good luck(7 votes)

Video transcript
- I'm Calvin Carter,
the name of my company is Bottle Rocket Apps. Like a lot of companies we have
values and then when we have tough decisions to make
we look at our values. I wanted to print these
values out and put them on the wall a few years back
and I'm so happy that our director of strategy and
user experience Michael said don't put your values on the wall. It's not the wall's job, it's our job. Unless we live those values
and make decisions every single day and use those values in
our language, we will never get people to understand
what we're trying to achieve. Our job is never done,
it's always focusing back on that's great, but what
can we do to make it better. And I think it keeps us humble
and it keeps us continually aligned to our vision and our
purpose and the importance of our craft and taking it personally. I want to be the symbol and
the walk the talk if you would of what quality means and what
that means down to a pixel level in our work and I think
that's important as you're growing an organization. I always want to be that
farmer with dirt under his fingernails, I always want
to have that connection to our craft 'cause that's
how we built this and that's really important to me and
I've had to become honest with myself about what am
I holding on to and holding back and what am I not focusing on. As an entrepreneur you
need to invite the tapping of the shoulder, you need to
invite that you need to say guys when I need to be
pushed, you need to push me. When I need to be pushed
aside, push me aside, that's a relationship
that you have to foster with the people that you work with.
