The science of fireworks
By James Dingley
A brief adventure into the workings of fireworks, exploring the history of fireworks, Newton's Third Law of Motion, oxidizers and quantum leaps. Join us as we burn fire underwater, uncover the secrets of quantum physics and take the dog for a walk.

- atit is mentioned that electrons "orbit" the nucleus. do electrons "orbit" the nucleus the same way a planet orbits its sun? In a flat plane? 6:30(4 votes)
- I don't know but we are doing chemistry in 5th grade so I might be able to ask my teacher. I know that the planetal orbit is done by gravity, but I'm not sure about electrons.(1 vote)
- What makes the fireworks shoot out colors?(1 vote)
- The chemicals that are added to the fireworks make the explosions colorful when they...... explode :D(4 votes)
- Is it then possible to make the Lord of The Rings dragon firework if all you have to do is position the balls just right?(2 votes)
- At, do the limited types of metals used to make them explain why i see the same color in fireworks over and over again? 5:15(1 vote)
- No. The reason you see the same color is because they were created the same. Even if you have limited types of metal, you can mix them in different amounts to get a new color.(2 votes)
- I heard a word in the new Terminator Genisys movie about magnetic quantum field. I would love to learn about that too, it sounds very interesting. :)(1 vote)
- You would love to learn about it and so would I. but as far as everyone knows, it doesn't exist.(1 vote)
- How can you explain the bubbles underneath the water(1 vote)
- Air is in smoke so they bubble up (like breathing underwater air bubbles come up to the surface) beacause smoke is CO2(1 vote)
- electronic only can "appear" and "disappear"(1 vote)
- What does this mean for science(0 votes)
