Khan Academy started in a handful of classrooms in Los Altos in late 2010 and produced remarkable results. In the fall of 2011, Los Altos rolled out Khan Academy district-wide in all 5th, 6th, and some 7th and 8th grade classrooms. Los Altos teachers used mobile labs to supplement their curriculum, and students were encouraged to work on math concepts they found challenging. Teachers used Khan Academy data to create more time in their schedules for hands-on, creative projects. Los Altos plans to roll out Khan Academy across these 4 grades this coming school year.
