Review the powers of 10 and try some practice problems.
Summary of powers of
How do we evaluate powers of ?
To evaluate a power of , we multiply the base by itself the exponent amount of times.
Example:
The pattern
The number of zeros in the solution always matches the exponent.

- how do you make a power of ten?(17 votes)
- It is simple a power of ten is just how many zeros it has for example 10^6 (Ten the power of 6) would have 6 zeros like this 1,000,000 which is One million. So to sum up 10^6= 1,000,000. Easy if you really think about it(81 votes)
- Khan Academy you had taught me so much so i want to keep getting better in math and more things, thank you khan Academy.(45 votes)
- no prpblem
thank you(1 vote)
- why is powers of ten so easy?(28 votes)
- cause all you do is add 0's(21 votes)
- When you divide a negative by a negative, would it be a positive or a negative?(14 votes)
- It would be positive. Just like in multiplication, if they're both positive or negative, it will be positive. If both numbers are different (in terms of being positive/negative) then the resulting quotient should be negative, assuming you did the math right!(13 votes)
- how many are in the power of ten(9 votes)
- 10,000,000,000(2 votes)
- are there powers of other numbers?(4 votes)
- You can use exponents in pretty much any situation, with any number. There are powers of one, zero, twenty-three, and every single other number, just like all numbers have a square root.(6 votes)
- look at how many zeros there are and that is the answer. It will help you a lot.(6 votes)
- True. But for an equation like 40x50 there are 2 0's but it equals 2,000 which has 3 zero's(0 votes)
- Is there any division videos like 94000.1 divided by 10 =(3 votes)
- I don't think so, but your question is easy to solve: just move every number one space over to the right. 94000.1/10 = 9400.01(2 votes)
- During the Quiz/test, it asked me to type the exponent for 10000 so I tried 10^4 since there is no button for exponents and when I checked my answer they said it was wrong! What should I do?(2 votes)
- You know the symbols come up right? So click the one that has the a*b.Before you do that, first you have type in 10,then you click it, last you have to type in 4 and you get it right!! I am not part of the Khan Academy okay, I'm just a kid.(1 vote)
- hi chat. i am wondering how to multiply decimals.
example question 1.365 x 7=?
I know that I can just delete the decimal and then add it back in later, but that's about as far as I got before messing everything up.
1365 x 7=?(2 votes)- So basically just line them up as if the decimal didn't exist. Ex:
1.365
x___7
Then solve it normally as if it didn't have a decimal.
1.365
x___7
9555
Then you count the number of the numbers that are on the right of the decimal point. Move the decimal in the solution however many times you count.
1.365 <-- three place values on the right of the decimal
x___7
9.555 <-- move decimal three points to the left from the very right
If there are multiple decimals, then just add up the decimal points.
1.365 <-- add all the places
x __.7 <-- four numbers in this case
.9555 <-- the decimal in the answer is four places from the right
Hope this helps!
Edit: Ignore the underscores, I couldn't line the numbers up correctly.(2 votes)
