NCLEX-RN competition winners

We're excited to announce the winners of our NCLEX-RN Content Competition, a collaboration between Khan Academy, the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

We received almost a hundred submissions from folks all around the world, representing over sixty hospitals and institutions.

We have chosen fourteen winners -- they will be developing educational tutorials to help nursing graduates prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam.

You can look forward to seeing some of their tutorials this summer!

Meet the winners

Akbarshakh Akhmerov

Cornell University

I've always been interested in education -- as a TA and supplemental instruction leader in college, as a Teach For America corps member in Chicago, and currently as a medical student in New York. This interest, coupled with Khan Academy's vision to expand access to quality education, is the reason I am so excited about this project.

Adrian Anzaldua

Stanford University

Khan Academy excels at the type of education students are beginning to demand more and more: material that is content-rich, highly interactive, and impressively approachable. My goal is to develop the skills necessary to be able to deliver this type of content, especially to those looking to pursue a career in health care.

Katie Baraki

University of Utah

I wanted to be a part of this Khan Academy competition because I wanted to be involved with this engaging and innovative method to facilitate learning! This combines my two passions, teaching and nursing, and allows me to express my creativity and reach more students.

Joshua Cohen

University of Miami

My medical school has experimented with video-based learning and found the retention rate and student interest to be astonishing. Such teaching methods led me to discover Khan Academy and its style. I’ve always had an interest in medical education, and can’t wait to contribute to this new and exciting educational model!

Amy Fan

The best way to learn is to teach. I am honored to become a member of this growing community of people who teach and learn from each other. Khan Academy videos got me through some tough times in organic chemistry. I am so grateful and excited for the opportunity to help someone understand something and to learn from the process.

With Khan Academy’s progressive approach to education, I hope to fulfill my goal of becoming a change agent in nursing academia.
